GPA Calculation Method (2026)

School grades are divided into grades 1 through 9 based on percentile rank. In the event of ties (tie in rank), they must be reflected.

Rank percentile formula

Rank Percentage (%) = (Rank + Number of Ties – 1) ÷ Total Enrollment × 100

GPA Standards (2026)

Grade 1: Over 0% ~ 4% or less
Grade 2: Over 4% ~ 11% or less
Grade 3: Over 11% ~ 23% or less
Grade 4: Over 231 TP3T ~ 401 TP3T or less
Grade 5: Over 40% ~ 60% or less
Grade 6: Over 601 TP3T ~ 771 TP3T or less
Grade 7: Over 771 TP3T ~ 891 TP3T or less
Grade 8: Over 891 TP3T ~ 961 TP3T or less
Grade 9: Over 961 TP3T ~ 1001 TP3T or less
Based on a total of 300 students, the cutoff for Grade 1 is within the top 12, Grade 2 within the top 33, and Grade 3 within the top 69. For subjects with a small number of students, grades may change due to tie-breaking.

Frequently Asked Questions

What rank is a Grade 1 in school grades?
You must have a rank of 0.04 or less of the total number of people to receive Grade 1. If there are 300 people in total, you must be within the top 12; if there are 500 people, you must be within the top 20.
What is the impact of ties on the grade?
The more ties there are, the higher the percentile rank becomes, which is disadvantageous. For example, if there are 10 people tied for 30th place, the percentile rank is calculated based on 39th place, which may result in a different grade.
What is the difference between GPA and CSAT grades?
Internal school grades are calculated by dividing school scores by percentile rank, whereas CSAT grades are calculated by dividing the score distribution of test-takers nationwide into nine grades. The calculation methods are different.
